What's Happening With the Fishing? Tarpon, snook, and blue fish can be caught off the beach in the first trough before sunlight. Remember that snook season is closed. Although they can be legally caught and released, please be especially careful handling them. Do not take them out of the water and play and release them quickly.. The ocean and Indian River's waters are clear making for excellent sight fishing. Tarpon have been lounging in the Saint Lucie river since June and are most active early in the morning. In the evening, dock and bridge lights make interesting snook fishing!
